David Pumpkins Dancing (Saturday Night Live)
David Pumpkins (Tom Hanks) dances along with two other men dressed in skeleton costumes during a skit from Saturday Night Live. The episode aired on October 22, 2016 on NBC.
This Halloween GIF is perfect for celebrating the spooky season, showing off ridiculous dance moves, or making an unexpectedly dramatic entrance. David S. Pumpkins’ unusual dancing and cheerful confidence make the reaction especially entertaining when someone is having fun without worrying about what anyone else thinks.
David S. Pumpkins first appeared in the Haunted Elevator sketch on the October 22, 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live. Wearing a black suit covered in pumpkins, Tom Hanks repeatedly appears alongside two skeleton dancers, confusing the haunted attraction’s visitors with a character who seems more interested in dancing than frightening anyone.
The sketch’s humor comes from the complete lack of explanation for David S. Pumpkins. While the other floors of the haunted elevator feature traditional Halloween scares, his appearances offer little more than strange dancing and the occasional question, “Any questions?” The increasingly confused visitors make his cheerful confidence even funnier.
Tom Hanks’ performance helped turn David S. Pumpkins into a memorable Saturday Night Live character. His exaggerated movements and enthusiastic delivery give the character an unmistakable personality, despite the sketch revealing almost nothing about who he is or why he appears in the haunted elevator.
SNL GIFs like this became popular online because of their absurd comedy style and instantly recognizable reactions.
